High-End Custom Mobile Charger – Real Delivery Case

We are a long-established Chinese manufacturer specializing in R&D and production of mobile chargers. Starting from the universal chargers of the Nokia era, we have witnessed 30 years of evolution and transformation in the mobile charger industry.

Initially, we mainly focused on OEM orders, with the factory devoting most manpower and capital to equipment procurement and raw material sourcing. Later, we registered our own brand trademarks and sold products through agents and distributors, yet OEM orders still accounted for a large share of our business.

Today, I will walk you through one of our high-end customization cases to illustrate the value a seasoned mobile charger manufacturer can deliver for OEM clients.

On October 20, 2023, we received an inquiry from Jamie in the US. Her message was very brief: she wanted a mobile charger for her beauty device, with no detailed specifications or parameters provided – a highly vague requirement.

 

 

Right after returning to the office post the Autumn Trade Show, I emailed Jamie promptly to confirm we are a professional mobile charger manufacturer capable of supplying her required products. I raised the following questions for clarification:

  1. To ensure safe charging for your beauty device, please share its input and output parameters. We offer 20W GaN, 30W GaN, 45W GaN and 65W GaN fast chargers, with product images attached to the email.
  2. Do you need matching charging cables along with the charger?
  3. Will this beauty device be sold in the US market? This determines the plug standard (US, EU, UK, AU plugs available).

On October 25, Jamie replied to confirm US plug type. She stated she was waiting for detailed specs from her beauty device manufacturer and asked about our charging cable options.

I advised her to choose 2-meter cables, as users may move the beauty device frequently during operation. The cables come in black and white, but I needed to confirm the port type on her beauty device.

On October 27, Jamie sent over a photo of her device and shared its electrical parameters:

This was a newly developed beauty device project of hers. From the photo, I identified the device featured a Type-C port. Jamie fully agreed with my suggestion of 2m cables to guarantee sufficient mobility during use, and requested both chargers and cables to be black.

At this point, the core product requirements were finalized. I recommended a 20W charger and matching cable, with full specs as below:

 I also followed up to ask two more questions: whether she needed customized packaging, and the quantity of her first batch order.

Jamie tentatively asked if 1,000 sets would be acceptable. I replied this MOQ was fully workable, and sent over the formal quotation plus production lead time details.

On October 31, Jamie emailed back: “Thank you for your quotation. We will place the order once our device is fully production-ready – we are nearly at that stage. I have consulted our quality control manager, and she would like to confirm if this charger can obtain UL certification.”

I informed her our model held ETL certification but not UL, and attached full ETL certification documents and test reports for her review. We also offer a 12-month product warranty.

On November 16, we shipped sample sets (one black set + one white set, each including 20W charger + data cable) per her request. Roughly 10 days later, she provided positive feedback on sample testing results, yet no formal order was confirmed at that stage.

On December 5, the customer raised a new demand: could we print their brand logo on the charger housing? I confirmed custom logo printing was fully supported, and shared past customized logo cases for her reference.

On December 8, Jamie sent two versions of logo artwork with specific craftsmanship requirements, requesting gold hot stamping. Our engineering team immediately generated 3D renderings of the logo effects for her selection, and quoted the additional cost for custom logo processing.

On December 13, the customer revised the logo design file, requiring identical patterns printed on both front and back sides of the charger, while retaining the gold hot stamping process.

 

 

On December 21, Jamie finalized the printing process plan: black charger housing, gold hot stamping for the brand text inside the logo, paired with a matte black outer ring. The design aimed for a low-key, premium texture.

On February 14, 2024, the customer signed off on the final confirmed rendering effect.

 

 

On February 26, we finished the first physical prototype, yet internal inspection found the matte black ring effect unsatisfactory. I notified the customer we would adjust the production process and re-manufacture samples to achieve the ideal texture.

 

 

The second revised sample was completed on February 29; I sent photos to Jamie to showcase the greatly improved visual finish.

 

We shipped the final revised samples on March 2, and the customer received them on March 7 for laboratory testing.

 

On April 5, we received the customer’s official test report confirming full sample compliance, though the customer still did not lock in a firm order timeline.

 

 

On April 26, Jamie reached out to discuss packaging solutions for the charger and cable. Their team was designing premium gift boxes for the full beauty device set, with the charger and cable to be pre-placed inside the main beauty device packaging, and they asked for our professional packaging suggestions.

As an original manufacturer of mobile chargers, we took their outer box size and structure into consideration and proposed the following packaging plan:

  1. Each charger is covered with transparent protective film (no need to remove before packing into the beauty device box). Every charger is individually wrapped in pearl cotton bags to prevent scratches during transit. 42 units are packed into one small inner carton for easy picking, and 6 inner cartons (250 chargers total) are loaded into one export outer carton.

 

 

  1. For charging cables: we neatly coil each cable and secure it with transparent PVC self-locking straps to avoid tangling, minimizing overall volume for easy placement inside the beauty device box. The packaged cable dimensions are 7cm × 3cm × 3.5cm.

 

 

On April 29, the customer approved our packaging solution, and confirmed a 25–30 day production lead time for the initial 1,000-set order. We also agreed to provide pre-production confirmation samples before mass production launch.

On April 30, Jamie sent an email stating their vendor qualification audit requirements, requesting us to fill out a supplier questionnaire and submit supporting certification documents.

Right after the China Labor Day holiday on May 8, we submitted all required materials to the customer:

  1. Full ETL certificates and test reports for the 20W Type-C US plug charger and matching data cable
  2. Factory equipment inventory list
  3. ISO management system certification
  4. Business license of our manufacturing enterprise
  5. Factory quality control manual
  6. Fully completed supplier qualification questionnaire

On May 20, our company passed the customer’s full audit and officially became a qualified supplier of Osmosis. However, the customer’s beauty device was still undergoing internal testing, so we could not lock in an exact order delivery date and entered a waiting phase.

On August 26, Jamie emailed to notify us of a major hardware upgrade: they replaced the internal battery of the beauty device with a higher-performance version for better user experience, and attached the new battery specification sheet, asking us to verify compatibility between our charger/cable and the updated battery.

Our engineering team completed full parameter analysis and confirmed our charger remained fully compatible with the new battery pack. We sent an additional sample set to the beauty device factory for final matching testing. On November 20, the customer shared positive feedback: the charger worked perfectly with the upgraded battery model in all compatibility tests.

The customer’s beauty device continued fine-tuning to optimize performance, and we maintained consistent communication throughout this extended waiting period.

On June 26, 2025, we received exciting news: Jamie emailed to notify us they were ready to place the initial bulk order, with the quantity increased to 2,200 sets due to multiple rounds of design revisions in the past two years. We recalculated all production costs and issued a revised final quotation the same day.

On August 13, 2025, we formally locked in the initial order of 2,200 sets – nearly two full years after our first inquiry exchange back in October 2023.

Prior to mass production, we manufactured two batches of pre-production samples with different silk-screen processes and shipped them to the customer for final sign-off on pre-production standards.

 

 

We received the customer’s official written approval form on August 13.

 

On August 26, we sent real-time production progress photos to the customer.

 

All production was completed on September 5. We submitted full quality control documentation to the customer, including:

  • IQC incoming material inspection reports
  • Finished product aging test reports
  • QA finished goods inspection reports
  • Full testing photos & video records

 

 

  • Full packing list and on-site packaging photos
  • Commercial Invoice

 

 

The customer’s QC team completed document, photo and video review and issued shipment clearance approval.

We received full balance payment on September 16, 2025, and the goods were formally delivered on September 19.

I recorded the full order journey in plain chronological notes because this case is highly representative for the charging accessory industry:

  1. The customer’s initial demand was extremely vague, with no clear technical parameters provided.
  2. Multiple rounds of design and specification revisions occurred throughout the communication cycle.
  3. This was a long-cycle order for a product still in the R&D prototype stage, spanning two years from first contact to initial bulk delivery.

 

My Key Operation Practices During This Project

I maintained a dedicated Excel spreadsheet logging every communication record: email dates, customer requirements, reference images, revision details, our proposed solutions, fully confirmed specifications, and cost adjustments. This detailed log became a critical reference when mass production kicked off two years later, enabling us to review every customer requirement without omissions.

Our factory also properly preserved the silk-screen film negatives from the early design stage, which remained fully usable when production launched two years later – solid proof of our standardized enterprise management system.

 

Core Experience Summary for OEM Mobile Charger Buyers

  1. Prioritize well-established, large-scale manufacturers when sourcing suppliers. They possess rich manufacturing experience and a large portfolio of successful custom OEM cases.
  2. Standardized enterprise management is a non-negotiable priority. Imagine if our account manager or the customer’s purchasing lead had left mid-project; without comprehensive Excel tracking records, new staff would struggle to sort out two years of scattered custom requirements, almost guaranteeing production errors. Our complete file retention system avoids such risks entirely.
  3. If your initial product concept is incomplete and you rely heavily on supplier technical recommendations, long-established large factories are the most reliable choice.
  4. Supplier craftsmanship capability and end-to-end quality control are critical. Experienced manufacturers can offer diverse process options to elevate your product’s premium texture beyond initial expectations. Quality control must be implemented in every production step, rather than merely recorded on paper documents.
